According to the analysis of Russian intellectual Alexander Dugin, humanity in early 2026 is experiencing a colossal shift in global architecture. Dugin argues that Donald Trump’s Greenland initiative is not a simple historical ambition, but part of a broader strategy that restores the “Monroe Doctrine.” (for more analysis about the issue of “Monroe Doctrine” please read the analysis titled “Venezuela: Violation of International Law by American Imperialism“).
For Dugin, Trump seeks to make the United States the sole ruler of the Western Hemisphere, something he has already implemented in Venezuela, which the American president now considers “his own”. On the occasion of Donald Trump’s initiative for Greenland and the developments in Venezuela, Dugin argues that we are facing the end of the old order and the birth of a “quantum” world, where power trumps any concept of international law.
Greenland and Venezuela: The expansion of empire
Dugin believes that Trump’s pursuit of Greenland is not simply an attempt to make history alongside the presidents who bought Alaska and Louisiana. It is the implementation of a modernized “Monroe Doctrine,” where the US establishes itself as the sole, absolute hegemon in the Western Hemisphere. The “subjugation” of Venezuela without a shot being fired and the claim of Greenland as a natural geographical extension of North America, show a president who is not stopping anywhere. In fact, Dugin warns that the next target will be Canada, which already seems to be preparing for a possible conflict, as Trump is ready to “swallow” the entire continent to make America great again (for more analysis on that issue please read also our analysis titled “The British Commonwealth will be forced to “surrender” Canada to the U.S. if the U.S. acquires Greenland“).
The five-fold division of the West
Dugin points out that the most important result of the current crisis is the dissolution of the collective West. The once unified monolith has shattered into five distinct poles:
1. The Primary West (Trump’s USA): Trump himself acts as the sole spokesperson for the West, treating everyone—enemies and allies alike—as expendable ornaments or “subordinates.”
2. The Second West (European Union): An EU that is horrified to discover that it has been politically emasculated, with its leaders treated by the White House as “pizza delivery men.”
3. The Third West (UK – British Commonwealth): A player in strange isolation, no longer the EU’s maestro but no longer a complete puppet of the US.
4. The Fourth West (Globalizers/Deep State): The remnants of the Democrats and the Davos elite, who see the ground disappearing from under their feet and Trump preparing purges.
5. The Fifth West (Israel): A force that, through Netanyahu, is implementing a messianic plan for a “Greater Israel,” largely controlling American foreign policy.
Trump as a “crazy tyrant” and the panic of Europe
The analysis describes Trump as a “cowboy” who has invaded world politics like a Wild West saloon. The Russian philosopher explains that the sharp increase in Trump’s aggression (tanker seizures, kidnappings of leaders, ultimatums) is due to the internal resistance he faces from the judicial system and Soros. He needed “trump cards” and “conquests” to consolidate his position in view of the 2026 elections. For Dugin, Trump is an aggressive and predatory force that openly declares that international law no longer exists; only the will of the strong exists.
The Gaza Council and the Invitation to Putin
The revelation that Trump invited Vladimir Putin to the “Peace Council” on Gaza is, according to Dugin, an attempt by the US president to build new structures, free from globalists. Despite Russia’s condemnation of the genocide in Palestine, this move shows that Trump wants to cooperate with sovereign leaders, in defiance of Brussels. For the European elite, this Moscow-Washington approach is the ultimate nightmare scenario, as they realize that Ukraine could be sacrificed at any moment on the altar of a new global division.
Ukraine and the New Quantum Politics
Finally, Dugin warns that despite the focus on Greenland, Trump will not “give” Ukraine to Russia. On the contrary, he sees it as a lever of pressure to keep Russia weakened. The philosopher speaks of a “quantum situation” in international politics, where the old rules do not apply and Russia must act with a more “crazy” and proactive strategy, taking advantage of the chaos that Trump is causing within NATO.
In conclusion, Dugin warns that Russia should not be deluded. Trump is not a “friend” of Putin, but a player who wants to weaken Russia. The philosopher calls on the Russian leadership to abandon “excessive politeness” and rationality, adopting a more proactive and “crazy” strategy (in the Russian style), in order to survive in a world that is now governed by the laws of quantum mechanics and absolute risk.
