Russian Anti-satellite Missiles

The launch of the Russian anti-satellite rocket to shoot down the Russian space satellite was made to show the world that Russia has the same capabilities as the United States, China, and India. The new weapon system destroyed an old Russian satellite on the night of November 15, 2021.

At the moment, the struggle that arises is reduced to the verbal and economic sphere and will inevitably proceed in the space where Russia wants to make it clear to the USA, China, and India to know that Russia will be at the forefront. And the example was set by Russia with the destruction by its own rocket of its own satellite.

The rocket that destroyed the existence of an old orbital platform was launched by the main Russian military complex, dedicated to the launch of strategic vehicles, the Plesetsk spaceport, located 800 km north of Moscow. The ASAT (anti-satellite) missile collided at an altitude of about 500 km with the old Russian spy satellite (Kosmos-1408), which was out of order for decades.

For several decades (ASAT) has been a so-called direct-climb missile, launched from the ground, from a ship or from an airplane to ignite an orbiting infrastructure. It is known as PL-19 Nudol.

It is a carrier mounted horizontally on a heavy 12-wheeled vehicle, which also serves as a take-off platform. It is under continuous evaluation with at least 12 actual tests.

The wreckage caused by the collision, about 1,500 larger than 10 centimeters and hundreds of thousands smaller (Pentagon-US Space Directorate), causes problems for existing satellites, but also for the International Space Station and the new Chinese Orbital Complex, with 27,000 kilometers per hour around the Earth.
