Foods for White Smile

Coffee and red wine are to blame for the yellowing of the teeth. Below we list the foods that give a white smile.

1. Black chocolate

Dark chocolate contains theobromine which helps harden the enamel on the surface of the teeth. This helps prevent yellowing since when the outer enamel of the teeth is weak then they become prone to discoloration. But what is true for dark chocolate does not apply to milk chocolate.

2. Green Tea (to prevent yellowing of teeth)

Contains tannins that prevent yellowing because they prevent bacteria from sticking to the teeth. This means it can prevent bad breath. The drink also contains substances such as polyphenols, which fight acids. Green tea boosts fluoride levels in the mouth which can lead to less corrosion of tooth enamel.

3. Strawberries

Strawberries can be used to clean stains on teeth. They contain malic acid that cleans stains from teeth. A natural whitening product is to mix baking soda with strawberry puree and brush your teeth with the mixture.

4. Cheese

The cheese can be used to prevent tooth decay. Cheese raises the pH in the mouth making it less acidic. This means that the chance of discoloration and tooth decay is reduced. Calcium in cheese can also help for stronger and healthier teeth.

5. Nuts, apples and pears

Some nuts such as walnuts and fruits such as apples and pears also offer protection against plaque and stains on the teeth. Its crisp texture hardens the gums reducing the risk of gingivitis, while the high water content of apples and pears increases the production of saliva that is necessary to reduce bacteria.
