Accelerating the pace of climate change that is taking place on our planet has caused discomfort and concern for the largest proportion of global public opinion. The prolonged chronicles heat waves in Northern Europe, the heavy winters that test the resistance of people and infrastructures in North America, the severe floods in Asia and the huge fires in Siberia (Russia), Australia and Amazon Rainforest (Brazil) dramatically confirm scientific warnings about the need for a global change in the lifestyles of mankind.

But at the same time, those who do not care so much about the concerns of climate change, whether they are political persons occupying power or countries, are doing so for the obvious reasons of the new changes that will be caused to global geopolitical level and up to 2040-2050.
The future geopolitical developments in North Hemisphere
The rise of the sea temperature due to global warming and the gradual melting of ice in the Arctic will enable the extreme prevailing and settled hostile to human survival conditions, that they prevail at the North Pole, to transform into much milder making the Arctic more easily habitable to colonizable.

At the same time the northern icy ocean will be all navigable for the merchant ships, changing to date for centuries well-known sea merchant routes and corridors equally, which are existed since the time of Vasco de Gama and until today.
These new, “under construction” sea merchant ships from North Europe to North Asia and vice versa as well as from North America to North Asia and vice versa will no longer have to make the circle of Africa and through the Pacific Ocean equally or pass through the Mediterranean Sea and the Canal of Suez that endanger human lives and cargos avoiding the pirates of Yemen and Somalia.
US President Donald Trump’s recent proposal to buy Greenland from Denmark reflects all these future developments that we will mention in this analysis/article (for the real reasons of the US President’s proposal for the possible redemption of Greenland, please read the analysis titled «Why does the President of the US wants to buy Greenland» category: Geopolitics, subcategory: America).
For the first time, the frozen ports, for the longest period, Murmansk and those of Siberia, will be readily accessible from the merchant ships of both the northern European countries, and North America and China and Japan, reducing drastically the distance between them.
Canada will also benefit in the sense that large parts of its Northern territory that were hostile to the living of man will be colonized for the longest time of the year transferring population masses to the northernmost territory of.
All this in a peaceful world, because the shortening of the distance of the maritime routes between these countries makes at the same time dangerous, in military terms, their approach.
The BRICS alliance, and notably the political, economic and military alliance between China and Russia combined with China’s land-based merchant roads, “Silk roads”, will consolidate Asia economically and politically in the first and later Asia with Europe.
The Anglo-Saxon countries (USA, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand) spearheaded the US and the UK have so far controlled the maritime trade corridors in oceans and seas. However, the opening of new trade routes in the Arctic will reduce the value of the remaining sea trade routes in the “warm seas”.

For the first time in the history of mankind, trade between the countries of the northern hemisphere will take place directly between them and without the non-interference of third countries that have previously controlled sea passages. It depends of course which country will control the Arctic first or whether the Arctic will not belong to anyone.
This is the second main reason (apart from the competition of economic development between the major countries-powers of the planet) that the specific big countries-forces of the planet do not care to implement and adhere to environmental measures in order to reverse the phenomenon of Global warming and climate change in general.
The future geopolitical developments in the rest of the world
If the problem in the north and south frozen ocean is melting ice in other parts of the world the effects of climate change alters face. In the Middle East region, the lack of water and the reduction of the level of the water resources and rivers will become increasingly the cause of more frequent tensions that will reach the point of war conflicts between the countries of the region.
In sub-Saharan Africa, The Great Green Wall of the Sahara Desert, developed by the countries of Central and Southern Sahara Africa, which starts from the African shores of the Red Sea and ends to the shores of Africa in the Atlantic Ocean, is trying to stop the extending of the desert to the south, creating development conditions for the economies of these countries. (For more information on the geopolitical importance of The Great Green Wall of the Sahara Desert, you should read the analysis titled «The Deficient Growth that creates the Great Green Wall of Sahara Desert» category: Geopolitics subcategory: Africa).
The problem of desertification in Sudan and Mali (North West Africa), which simultaneously creates food crises, causes local conflicts about who will control food and water that evolve into civil wars.
The increase in Ocean levels also create food crises in the Horn of Africa (includes the countries of Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia and Somalia) due to the expanding erosions of the coasts and the underground water aquifer making it salty for any drinking water.

All these food crises and water shortages caused by climate change in Africa will, on a regular basis, force the movement of large population flows initially towards North Africa and then towards Europe in search of a better future.
At the same time, in northern Europe, in South Asia, in Siberia, in Australia and in South America, the increase in the period of rainfall shortage will result in a drastic decline, due to disasters, in agricultural production. The drought and water scarcity will further increase the risk of uncontrolled and huge fires.
Deforestation will lead to more devastating floods, in terms of intensity and duration, all year round. Increasing the global warming will facilitate the spread of infectious diseases and epidemics worldwide.
All these new problems-threats combined with the changes that are made on an economic level and generally in the global capitalist system create new future data that will change the shape of our planet in relation to how we know it today.
