The US withdrawal from Afghanistan and the rapid advance of the Taliban with the rapid occupation of the capital Kabul and the chaos that followed on its streets and at its airport, among other things, proved once again the complete incompetence of the EU-Commission. to do anything at this level without US help.
The weakness of the EU-Commission was not only a diplomatic, political, and military defeat (please read the analysis titled “The causes of mistakes that brought to International geopolitical Weakness the EU“), as without the presence of the US Armed Forces, European nationals and diplomats living in Afghanistan could not leave the country safely.

So where is the “Geopolitical Commission” promised by the President of Ursula von der Leyen when she officially spoke at the inauguration of her President?
Once again, the EU and the Commission have proven that they can be economic giants, but they remain politically and militarily insignificant.
Is there a serious military operation that the Europeans will be able to carry out only with their own Armed Forces? Very hard.
The EU should have a unified foreign policy and a unified Armed Forces (please read the analysis titled “The Creation of the EU Defense and Its Defense Forces“) to support it, as well as a non-fragmented defense industry with which to support them and a common European fund to fund above mechanism.
Otherwise, Erdogan-like behavior during Ursula von der Leyen’s visit to Istanbul and public humiliation of High Commissioners for Foreign Affairs such as Sergei Lavrov and Josep Borrell will be repeated in the future.
