The town of Huntsville in the State of Alabama was permanently chosen for its seat by the US Space Administration in a process in which many States of America fiercely competed to acquire it. The reasons were obvious where they hoped that the winner of the competition in addition to the jobs would also boost their local economy.

But at one point the headquarters decision was well known given that the Space Command will be installed at Redstone Arsenal Air Force Base in Huntsville, where the Land Army Air and Missile Command, as well as NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Program, are already housed there.
There have been many rockets launches at Redstone Base, including Nike, Pershing, Hawk and many NASA prototypes.
