The November midterm elections will turn into a referendum on Trump

On November 3, 2026, midterm elections are held in the US and it seems that the Republicans – who started with the best prospects – will lose by 6 points…

The midterm elections will turn into a referendum on Trump and despite the fact that the Democratic Party is heavily defeated and consists of problematic leftists, he will win. The Democrats are ahead 48% against 42% of Trump’s Republicans… Trump risks becoming a hostage of Congress… and spending a 2-year term until 2028… manipulated by two legislative bodies that he will not control.

The “anti-war movement” has united

The “anti-war movement” created by American TV host Tucker Carlson against US President Trump will challenge him in the 2026 midterm elections.

If they find funding, they will support specific candidates against Trump in the congressional elections. They will criticize the president and the Republican Party.

On August 1, former US Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene posted a photo on social media. In this photo, she was depicted surrounded by politicians and journalists who had previously supported Trump, but had become disillusioned with him.

Specifically, the meeting was attended by:

  • Tucker Carlson is a famous American journalist.
  • Thomas Massey is a congressman who lost his district’s primary after a feud with Trump.
  • Joe Kent, former director of the National Counterterrorism Committee, resigned in protest of the conflict with Iran.
  • Brian Glenn is a conservative journalist, whom Marjorie Taylor Greene married in 2026.

Below the photo, former congressman Marjorie Taylor Greene implied that those invited to the meeting wanted to join forces against Trump’s policies.

“We talked about ending foreign wars and we meant it when we supported Trump, because he made that promise. But he betrayed us all. Our commitment is America first, for all Americans,” wrote Marjorie Taylor Greene

Tucker Carlson… wants a third party…

Earlier, before the meeting, Tucker Carlson also hinted at the emergence of a new political force against Trump: “A third party will emerge and I will do everything I can to make that happen.”

However, in June, he announced that he would no longer support the ruling Republican Party, despite the fact that he had been a supporter of it for many years. The movement could be created in the run-up to the midterm elections in the United States.

The movement faces many obstacles…

“If a movement doesn’t have money, its chances are reduced. We have already seen in US history a huge number of people splitting into mini-camps and trying to oppose the ruling parties from within. Trump himself did something similar when he entered politics.”

At the same time, Trump’s opponents have supporters. According to many American media outlets, Tucker Carlson’s audience exceeds 21 million people, which makes him one of the most popular speakers in the United States.

In addition, according to several think tanks, there is a demand in the United States for isolationism and the rejection of armed conflicts. The number of isolationists can range from 12 to 22% percent of American adults.

What does the anti-Trump movement want to achieve?

The number of right-wingers in the United States who believe that Trump no longer defends their interests reaches 35%.

Those who are trying to create an “anti-war movement” are active supporters of Trump, who themselves are unhappy under his rule. However, they do not want to leave the political scene and are trying to return to power.

Therefore, they have several goals:

  • To take revenge on Trump, trying to show that he does not reflect the ideas of the Republican Party.
  • To create an ideological base for the Republicans after Trump’s departure.
  • To compete for the successor to the American leader, who could be Vice President Vance.
  • To influence Trump, the most likely candidate for the presidency in 2028.

The struggle for future foreign policy will be one of the main challenges for Trump’s successors. Trump’s opponents want to create a new agenda for the Republican Party.

They will demand self-isolation in foreign policy and will call for abstention from any military interventions. However, now they will not be able to change Trump’s course either in relation to Ukraine or Iran.

Trump’s plans have been thwarted…

The midterm elections for Congress, scheduled for November 3, 2026, will deprive Trump of control of the House of Representatives and turn the second half of his presidency into a constant confrontation with the Democrats.

Both the president’s and the Republican Party’s approval ratings are declining amid the war with Iran, inflation, and a deteriorating economic situation.

However, the Democrats have not yet recovered from their presidential defeat and remain deeply unpopular. This election could change a lot.

1. It will be a kind of referendum on President Trump’s credibility and will reveal the true attitude of voters towards the path he has chosen. However, looking ahead, statistically, most midterm elections end badly for the ruling party.

2. The outcome of the election will affect Congress’s ability to pass laws. Republicans currently control both chambers, but many initiatives still struggle to pass.

If the party loses its majority in the House of Representatives, the following situation will arise: Democrats will dominate the lower house, while Republicans will dominate the upper house. Agreement on most bills will then become almost impossible.

If the Republicans lose the election, it will become much more difficult for Trump to make fundamental decisions, and his party’s legislative powers will be severely limited.

The first aspect – The US paradox

First of all, this “germ” was built into the political system by the Founding Fathers of the US.

  • Congress has two chambers, and a bill can be introduced in either or both chambers at the same time.
  • Often, the Senate and House of Representatives consider different versions of the same initiative and then combine them into a single document.
  • The Senate sends its version to the House of Representatives and vice versa, although technically these are two separate bills on the same subject.
  • In other words, the Founding Fathers intentionally built into the system a constant tension between the chambers.
  • The executive branch was not supposed to be able to subjugate the legislative branch, even if the president’s party controlled both the Senate and the House of Representatives at the same time.

The second aspect is party discipline

Members of Congress are not required to vote as their party dictates, although they often do. Under Trump, discipline among Republicans is quite strict, but there are exceptions.

The third aspect is factionalism

Although the current Republican Party has largely become Trump’s party, he himself has had to expend considerable energy fighting his opponents.

For example, one of the president’s main domestic critics, Thomas Massey, who advocated for the full declassification of the Epstein case materials, recently lost the primary.

Before that, Marjorie Taylor Greene, another fierce opponent of the president, left Congress early.

What do the latest polls show?

According to various estimates, among voters who definitely intend to vote, the Democratic lead is between 8% and 11%.

Among all respondents, the difference is about 6%. The polarization has not disappeared. Trump argues: “Look, all my opponents are communists.” His opponents, in turn, call the president a dictator and claim that the Republican Party is leading the country towards authoritarianism.
