A terrible plan of political deception of the US and Russia by the European Prothom Alo is brought to light by the German magazine Der Spiegel, revealing conversations from the video conference of European leaders.
The shocking German leak reveals the intention of the Europeans to torpedo Trump’s plan to end the war in Ukraine, while at the same time reflecting their negative attitude towards the American actions and their behind-the-scenes sabotage, despite the public approval of the American president’s initiatives.
In fact, during the video conference, French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his concern, warning his interlocutors that “the US may betray Ukraine”, a view that reportedly found broad agreement.
The first torpedo from the eager ones at the Trump plan: “It is… too pro-Russian”
The conference call took place after the Trump administration delivered to Kiev the 28-point peace plan, which was reportedly drafted by Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
The plan was rejected by Ukraine and the Europeans as “too friendly” to Russia, sparking heated negotiations in Geneva. However, the Elysee Palace, when asked about Macron’s comments, said the French president “never used those words.”
Macron’s bombshell: “The Trump plan poses a huge threat to Zelensky”
In addition to the French President, the discussion included Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and European Council President Antonio Costa.
The topic of discussion was the US initiatives for peace negotiations between Kiev and Moscow. Macron reportedly said that “there is a possibility that the US will betray Ukraine on the issue of territories, without clarity on security guarantees,” adding that this poses a “huge risk” for Zelensky.
“Are we going to leave Zelensky alone with… these guys?”
Merz warned that Zelensky should proceed “extremely carefully in the coming days.” “They are playing games — with you and with us,” he said, pointing to US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, who spent five hours in a closed-door meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday.
According to the minutes, Stubb from Finland was on the same wavelength as Merz. “We cannot leave Ukraine and Volodymyr alone with these guys,” he said, also taking pictures of Witkoff and Kushner. Rutte immediately joined in: “I agree with Alexander — we must protect Volodymyr Zelensky,” the NATO chief stressed.
They also eyed… Russian assets
As Spiegel reveals, the issue of frozen Russian assets was also on the table. Many European leaders emphasized that using Russian billions to finance a strong package of economic and military support for Ukraine is an EU decision – not a US one.
Putin’s ultimatum that…scattered panic in the EU: “Only those who recognize the realities on the battlefield will be part of the negotiations”
In response to the Euro-hysteria, Russia has issued an ultimatum to the EU, which was even publicly stated by the Russian president himself. Russia allows the European Union to return to negotiations on a settlement in Ukraine if they start taking into account the realities on the ground, Russian President Vladimir Putin told reporters shortly before his meeting with US negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in the Kremlin.
Putin said that European countries want to shift the blame for the collapse of the peace process to Russia. In particular, he pointed out that this goal is clearly visible in Moscow, and added: “Therefore, if they really want to return to the ground of reality, based on the situation on the ground, as they say in such cases, then please – we allow it.”
Putin also noted that the European Union is putting forward proposals for a settlement that are unacceptable to Moscow.
