Senator James David Vance from Ohio has been chosen by – and now officially – Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump as his running mate should he win the election.
Trump’s announcement of Vance’s nomination, the Republican nominee comfortably securing the necessary votes, comes as no surprise considering his name had actually been floated as a possibility for the position. It does, however, represent something of a … surprise, as Vance, 39, has even gone so far as to question in the past whether Trump is “America’s Hitler.”
Donald Trump, however, said he made the decision “after long deliberation and consideration and taking into account the tremendous talents of many others.”
Posting on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “JD served our country honorably in the Marine Corps, graduated from Ohio State University in two years with honors, and is a graduate of Yale Law School, where he was editor of the Yale Law Journal Journal and president of the Yale Veterans’ Association.
He added: “JD has had a very successful business career in technology and finance, and now, during the campaign, he will focus strongly on the people he fought so brilliantly for. As vice president, he will continue to fight for our constitution, stand by our troops, and do everything he can to help me make America great again.”
Who is James David Vance?
Born in 1984 in Middletown, Ohio, Vance comes from a working-class family of predominantly Scots-Irish descent. He enlisted in the Marines for four years and served in Iraq before attending Ohio State University, where he received degrees in political science and philosophy.
From there, he attended Yale Law School and then wrote his memoirs. In 2017, Vance returned to Ohio from California, where he was working in biotech, and launched his own venture capital firm with the backing of PayPal founder Peter Thiel.
Why is his choice important regardless of whether it was made by Trump or his advisers?
Vance is an important mind but not in the technocratic sense of the term that is in vogue. He has written the book “Hilbilly Elegy” which captures the abandonment, the despair experienced by the predominantly white working class from globalization and the new order, it is essentially a book dealing with the identity of the working class, a subject that once it was the privilege of the Left-wing but now the Left-wing is busy with feminists, woke culture, LGBT, black trappers etc. while making a lot of money from finance capital.
This move is a really pleasant surprise on Trump’s part and shows that although he is a capitalist he really cares about the working class. It now shows that a broader vision for changing capitalism than the ripped-woke neoliberal framework is in place that goes far beyond the 2024 election.
- For the foreign policy of the USA, apparently, they are not going to go crazy with to support the Nazi-Ukrainians to make NATO and every Ursula von der Leyen happy. But what they (Trump & Vance) are mainly interested in is improving the living standards of their country’s population. Trump’s ideology and shift to the working class is a message to Europe as well.
- Let’s put an end to Ursula von der Leynen’s Europe.
- Let’s finish with the Europe of Eurovision type which presentes the woke culture and LGBT’s.
- To re-establish the Europe of De Gaulle, the Europe of regulated capitalism and homelands, the Europe that has values that gives birth to children.
- Immigrants and blacks should be integrated as workers and citizens if they want, women even if they work should turn back to family and children.
- More generally, what the specific leading duo of the Republicans is advocating is that an immediate exit from neoliberal depravity-capitalism is needed.
- Let’s see when the Left-wing will understand it, which is more new-liberal than ever.
- In France they seem to have understood this and many of the working class have turned to Mélenchon who is a Trump of the Left-wing.
