Austin (US Secretary of Defense): If Ukraine loses, NATO will fight Russia

After French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed on Thursday (29/2/2024) that he meant what he said about sending Western troops to Ukraine, the American Secretary of Defense came to declare that the USA is planning something similar or rather something worse. US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said he “truly believes” that if Ukraine loses the ongoing conflict, NATO will have to fight Russia next.

“Frankly, if Ukraine falls, I really believe that NATO will be at war with Russia,” Austin told a House Armed Services Committee hearing. Austin admission: The Russians are advancing.

The American Secretary of Defense made very alarming estimates for the Ukrainians based on which Russian troops continue to advance in the zone of the special operation and are constantly achieving success. He even added that, if Ukraine is defeated, the Russian leadership will not stop there. More generally, it is worrying that the US has so far taken a more cautious stance on the matter of sending Western troops to Ukraine.

If it is a rocket of internal consumption at the mercy of presidential elections in November 2024, it is a dangerous tactic that can bring irreversible results. A message game is underway: the West is looking at how Russia reacts to certain statements.

The West is flirting with the destructive idea of war

The latest reports from the West about war with Russia confirm that a camp of countries has formed that seems determined to cross the Rubicon and come into direct armed confrontation with Moscow by sending troops to Ukraine. On Monday (26/2/2024), a conference was held in Paris in support of Kyiv, convened at the initiative of Macron. The leaders of nearly 12 European countries have been invited to attend, including Germany, Great Britain, Poland, Denmark and the Netherlands.

After the meeting, the French president said the participants discussed the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine, but did not reach a solution. On February 27, French Foreign Minister Stephane Sejourne explained that the presence of Western troops in Ukraine may be necessary to provide certain types of assistance, including demining operations and guiding Ukrainian soldiers, but this does not entail their involvement in the conflict. It is recalled that French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal on Wednesday (28/2) repeated Macron’s message, saying that “nothing can be ruled out in a war”. He even added that the French army can secure Ukraine’s borders.

Putin’s stern message and the tragic fate of the invaders in Russia

Macron’s insistence on sending Western troops to Ukraine confirms that this is not an abstract theory but an actual plan. The event takes on even greater significance because Macron’s initial remarks provoked strong reactions within the West and were preceded by the Russian president’s stern message to the West.

“They are preparing to strike our soil, and they are using the best and most effective forces to do so. But we remember the fate of those who tried to invade our territory. And of course their fate will be much more tragic… They must understand that we also have weapons.
Weapons that can defeat them on their territory, and of course all this is extremely dangerous because it could actually trigger the use of nuclear weapons and the destruction of humanity,” said the Russian president.
