Operation “Nimrod”, the SAS intervenes on camera

The British special operations team SAS (Special Air Service) intervenes by storming the Iranian embassy building in London, after it was taken over by armed Iranian terrorists.

Five days ago, a six-member group from the Democratic Revolutionary Front for the Liberation of Arabia (DRFLA), an Iranian Arab terrorist organization, demanding the autonomy of Southern Iran, an area with an Arab population (and also an area with the largest oil deposits), occupied the embassy building in South Kensington, London and captured 26 people: 17 embassy employees, 8 visitors and a British policeman.

After days of British police negotiators achieving the release of some hostages and the airing of the terrorists’ demands, the latter, tired and impatient at the non-advancement of their demands, killed a hostage and threw his body from the balcony. The government then ordered the SAS team to intervene.

The commandos climbed onto the roof of an adjacent building and entered through the windows with ropes, fighting their way inside. Five of the six terrorists and one of the hostages were killed, while two hostages and one SAS member were wounded. This impressive operation took place as it was being recorded from outside by television crews that had been set up there since the first day of the hostage situation.
