About 18,000 confirmed civilian casualties in Ukraine since February 24, the office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) said.
According to the figures provided by the UN agency, 6,884 civilians have been killed and 10,947 injured since the start of Moscow’s invasion of Ukrainian territory.
The UN agency added that the actual toll is “significantly higher”.
“Most of the civilian casualties recorded were caused by the use of explosive weapons with wide effects, including shelling by heavy artillery, multiple launch rocket systems, rockets and airstrikes,” the UNHCR said.
The worst affected areas were Donetsk and Luhansk in eastern Ukraine.
