Raid by Ukrainian Saboteurs on one of the most important Air bases in Moscow

One of Russia’s most important air bases, the Chkalovsky airbase located less than 30 kilometers from Moscow, is said to have been attacked by saboteurs. According to the Ukrainian military intelligence service, two fixed-wing aircraft and a helicopter were blown up by explosives placed on them during an operation on September 18.

A satellite image purported to show the situation at the base after the attack has made the rounds on the internet, however it is not possible to confirm if any aircraft were actually attacked and to what extent. Two more blurry photos showing a perimeter wall of the Chkalovsky base, believed to have been taken by the saboteurs, were later released. Again, however, we cannot in any way verify the validity of any of the above reports, nor observe the images in detail.

The Ukrainian Official Statements

In a statement made on X, however, formerly known as Twitter, the adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Anton Gerachenko, provided some relevant information.

The secret intelligence service of the Ukrainian military itself stated that the accident caused “significant hysteria in the highest military ranks” of Russia due to the fact that these air bases host “government aircraft, the so-called doomsday planes and especially aircraft (ie spy planes)’.

However, the Kiev service did not report that the three mentioned aircraft were destroyed, it simply stated that they “suffered serious damage”. Be that as it may, the attack certainly caused concern in Moscow and especially in the Kremlin.
