At the intersection of 57th Street and 5th Avenue, Aman New York opened its doors, breathing new life into Manhattan’s Crown Building and offering breathtaking views of Central Park. The opening was planned for 2021 to coincide with the 100-year anniversary of the iconic building, but due to the pandemic, it was postponed to the second half of 2022.
The new property of 83 elegant rooms and suites, in addition to the luxurious hospitality services of the Aman group, also offers high-end dining and spa facilities, while inaugurating the first Aman Residences in an urban setting. The 22 private residences have from one to six bedrooms, working fireplaces, outdoor terraces and heated pools.
Designed by renowned architect Jean-Michel Gathy, the hotel combines the sophistication of the historic building with the Asian minimalism espoused by the Aman Group. The three restaurants bring flavors to the city for eclectic tastes: Nama serves sushi and sashimi, the Wine Library cellar offers private wine tastings, and the Italian Arva is ideal for all-day dining. Finally, the Bar serves cocktails from award-winning mixologists, craft beers and gins from top distilleries, while the Cigar Bar completes the experience.
Focusing on urban wellness services, Aman Urban Wellness occupies three floors with Aman Spa as the star. Each Spa House has its own private relaxation terrace with hot and cold pool. Other facilities include the Aman Fitness Center (280 m2) with Technogym training equipment, the 20 m swimming pool, hydrotherapy with saunas, steam rooms, etc., the yoga studio, the beauty salon, the lounge and the boutique for markets.
- MADRID-EU (Thompson Madrid)
A member of the Hyatt Hotels group, Thompson Madrid opened its doors in the Spanish capital near the bustling Puerta del Sol and Gran Vía. It has 175 rooms, including 22 suites and a penthouse, as well as three restaurants: the Thompson Madrid Rooftop Bar on the hotel’s roof, the Omar Bistro, ideal for all hours of the day, and a cocktail bar on the ground floor with independent entrance from the Plaza del Carmen.
Its spaces combine luxurious amenities with elements inspired by the lifestyle and architecture of Madrid, as it is located in the Salamanca area, one of the most expensive neighborhoods in the city with grand mansions, gourmet restaurants and important cultural attractions.
The aim of Thompson Madrid is to become a favorite meeting point for lovers of design, local culture, fashion, music and gastronomy. A place where cultural heritage is linked with evolution highlighting all the qualities that Madrid has to offer.
For this purpose, the hotel’s “Artivists” team, made up of the artist Nicolás Villamizar, the chef Nino Redruello and the fashion company OTEYZA, become “ambassadors” of Spanish culture. It acts as a link between visitors and the city, ensuring a unique travel experience.
- LONDON-UK (Chateau Denmark)
Inspired by the iconic history of Denmark Street, the London street identified with the British music industry, Chateau Denmark combines exceptional architecture and creative expression. The design of the hotel’s 55 rooms and apartments reflect the spirit of Soho, where punk rock meets gothic and psychedelia in a contemporary way. From the bold energy of the Superior Session Rooms to the dramatic style of the Flitcroft Apartments, Chateau Denmark impresses with elegant gold details, which coexist with whimsical graffiti.
The accommodation is housed in a series of listed townhouses and mansions along Denmark Street. Wood paneling, fireplaces, freestanding baths, majestic headboards, striking fabric patterns, industrial finishes, vintage furniture emblazoned with the phrase ‘God Save The Queen’, but also rooms that retain their low height, all respectfully revived so as not to spoil the original character of the buildings. Each building has played its own role in the development of the British music scene: in one of them the Rolling Stones recorded their first album, while in another the La Giaconda cafe operated, a favorite haunt of David Bowie, Vince Taylor, Lou Reed, Chrissie Hynde and Vivienne Westwood.
As for the Flitcroft Street apartments, these overlook St Giles-in-the-Fields and revive a more poetic atmosphere with four-poster beds, carved furniture, stone fireplaces and more. The Now Building houses state-of-the-art event space equipped with huge LED screens and Superior, Luxury and Deluxe meeting rooms, as well as the 2,000-capacity Outernet space for parties, concerts, shows, and more. On the top floor of the building is the Tattu restaurant, inspired by traditional Chinese cuisine, while in the basement there will be a lounge bar and a wellness area.
