The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) says in a statement that US Air Force fighters intercepted two Russian Tu-95 bombers, which entered the reconnaissance and air defense zone of Alaska.
In the same announcement it is underlined that F-16 fighters of the US Air Force were sent to intercept the Russian bombers.
“Recent Russian activity in the North American control space is not considered a threat, nor is the activity considered provocative. NORAD tracks and locates foreign military aircraft entering there. NORAD regularly monitors the movements of foreign aircraft and, as necessary, escorts them out of this area,” the NORAD statement said.
