Why the Secret Services of the EU Member Countries they did not know about AUKUS

The cancellation of the contract between France and Australia for the construction of 12 conventional submarine propulsion with the simultaneous Announcement of the AUKUS Alliance, shocked France and EU member countries in general. Not only because the contract of the century for France was lost and because they had no information but because their secret services failed to locate the negotiations that ended in this alliance.

Questions that require answers

  • How did such a great mobilization go unnoticed?
  • What areas did the French secret services focus on or never thought that such a big contract would be difficult to maintain in the long run?
  • Why the secret services of other EU member countries they did not find anything to inform France?
  • Who and how many knew in the French secret services about these negotiations but chose for other reasons not to inform the President of France due to the upcoming presidential election? and when French personalities have spoken out against the French President’s policies on the French Islamic arc.
  • Did the other EU member countries do the same? to “shorten” the size of France within the union.

It is impossible for some countries such as Germany, which has excellent secret services, not to know about the AUKUS negotiations.

Why the US and the UK do not accept France’s criticism

It should be noted that the US does not tolerate the attitude of the EU and especially Germany’s attitude towards China.

The United States considers that France and Germany first stabbed Joe Biden in the back when Joe Biden took over the Presidency in December 2020, and before Joe Biden actual took over the Presidency, the EU signed an investment agreement with China, giving European companies greater access to the Chinese market.

Germany continues to put unbearable pressure on the decision-making centers of Brussels, in order not to do anything that will disrupt Germany’s relations with China even after the announcement of the AUKUS Alliance.

The agony in EU increases and since the UK is doing very well after Brexit (please read the analysis titled “Boris Johnson Satisfied with the Australian Decision (AUKUS)” and after AUKUS Britain regains the lead over France in the region of Indian-Pacific Ocean.

This fact can put other EU member states tempted to leave the Union. There are also other areas of cooperation between member-countries that may enable these members not to become accustomed to participating in these programs.

The development of a real European strategic autonomy led by France will also be in the spotlight (please read the analysis with the title “Germany Opposes EU Military Autonomy”).

What is certain is that if the EU does not conform to the wishes of the US in terms of US relations with China, both the phenomena of unilateralism and the absolute surprise of decisions by the US to the EU will increase, gradually stretching the relations between them in a thin rope.
