The return of the US to Europe and the simultaneous aggressive treatment of Russia, under President Joe Biden combined with the apparent US dissatisfaction with Turkey over its actions on the Russian S-400 weapons system, create a complex picture that is distinguished from the following elements:
1. The United States urges all Western countries to serve, under one common line, the American priorities, with the main priority of dealing with China and Russia.
China has priority for the U.S. because it covets the global primacy of the U.S. Over time it is the cornerstone of American policy or in every way preventing Europe’s rapprochement with Russia and in particular preventing Germany from rapprochement with Russia.

In this context, the US is paying great attention and should risk making the China-Russia approach a reality while knowing that this will be difficult to achieve due to the existing differences between China and Russia (see analysis entitled “Joe Biden’s Pluses and Minuses of So far Unclear Strategy against Russia and China”).
The EU-Russia approach will create a third powerful pole (after China-Russia) that will unite the Eurasian continent by isolating the US on the global geopolitical chessboard.
In this context, the US is directly opposed to the completion of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and at the same time launches the moral campaign to respect human rights and the rule of law that forms the basis of the Republic.
Russia, for its part, wants the West divided, while the US wants Europe’s full dependence on the US and Russia’s blockade.
2. Europe accepts the leading role of the United States but does not in any way want a complete rupture with Russia. Europe has economic interests with Russia and China and does not want to sacrifice them. In addition, he knows that Europe’s natural opening is to the vast east-Asian markets.
The US to erect the “wall” between Europe and Russia achieves this by satelliting the countries of Eastern Europe-towards the sphere of influence and the provided US security umbrella-and investing in their anti-Russiasism.
3. The US is disturbed by Turkey’s voluntarism and its cooperation with Russia, not only in the arms markets but also in Syria, Nagorno-Karabakh, Iraqi Kurdistan, Lebanon, and Libya.
The US does not want to lose Turkey but wants it to follow its own directions. But the US does not see that the Erdogan regime in Turkey has established strong foundations in Turkish society through a narrative that is a mixture of nationalism and Islamism that is indifferent to US sensitivities to flagrant human rights violations and violations of the rule of law.
Turkey, because of its control of migrant transport networks to Europe, has taken Europe hostage and does not care what the US does, but it cares what Europe does.
That is why the US should press Turkey through Europe’s decisions. In other words, the pressure for Turkey’s compliance with the priorities and the us wants must be done through Europe’s decisions.
