Baraz of Arrests in Myanmar

Thousands of demonstrators gathered on Friday, February 5th to protest the coup that toppled the government of Aung San Suu Kyi on Monday, February 1st. The army continues to arrest politicians, activists, and protesters in general.

Demonstrators and supporters of democracy make the three-finger salute – the mark of resistance from democratic movements – which became popular during the 1998 uprising that was violently suppressed by the military. The walls in Myanmar’s buildings are written under the slogan of the democratic citizens “Long live Your Mother”.

Despite international condemnations, the leadership of the military that unannounced seized power continues the arrests to silence any dissident towards them.

Wayne Hetain, a close associate of Aung San Suu Kyi, was arrested at his daughter’s home in Yangon on Friday, February 5, at dawn. The situation will not be normalied for the next few months.
