Hypersonic Missiles: Terror Over Earth

The U.S. Navy recently announced that it plans to equip its submarines with Common-Hypersonic Glide Bodies (C-HGB) from 2025. The same strategy will be implemented later surface vessels with priority the destroyers’ type Arleigh Burke.

President Donald Trump described the C-HGB as a “super-duper missile” in a speech at West Point, also stating that it can attack the target with an accuracy of 14 inches (35cm), with a range estimated at more than 1600km.

The real problem with supersonic weapons is their terrifying speed, which is consistent with the great difficulty of detecting them.

These missiles are transported in space or at the desired altitude by rockets, and then they glide into the atmosphere (Glide Bodies) and thus achieve their enormous speed. This mode of flight gives them an unpredictable flight profile in relation to ballistic missiles.

When detected it may be too late for any reaction. Due to the curvature of the earth, terrestrial radar systems have only a limited range in which they can locate targets.

If a radar system detects a hypersonic missile at the time it is launched, at 1900 kilometers, then in less than four minutes the impact will take place.

It is immediately understood that no nation has a defense against a weapon system that can travel at up to 6.8kmkm/sec.
