On Saturday, September 19, the White House Correspondents’ Association called on Donald Trump to reverse the ban on White House access for journalists from CNN and other media outlets, deeming the move unconstitutional.
“Today’s decision to revoke access for journalists from CNN, Politico, and MSNBC violates the First Amendment,” the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) stated, calling on the US President to “immediately” restore access for the journalists.
CNN and MSNBC announced earlier that their journalists were denied access to the White House following the ban announced by the US President on Friday.
According to US media reports, an MSNBC reporter and photographer were denied entry to the White House today, and the same occurred for CNN journalists.
Trump announced yesterday that he was banning CNN, MSNBC, and Politico from the White House “with immediate effect”—warning that other media outlets might follow—and complaining about their news coverage, marking his latest threat against the independence of the press.
