The New Order of Things in the Middle East from the Israel-United Arab Emirates Agreement

The recent agreement will further legitimize Israel as a state in the Middle East. Brokered by the US, Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have established diplomatic relations, which is a historic success and will establish the starting point for similar Agreements and the establishment of diplomatic relations between Israel and the other Arab-Sunni states in the Middle East region.

Certainly, the Palestinian Authority understands that this development is unpleasant for its own interests, given that their own Palestinian issue will now come second on the agenda of Israel’s talks with the other Arab states in the region.

Israel’s agreement with the UAE and as it has seen the light of publicity includes cooperation in areas such as:

  • Security
  • Investments
  • Tourism
  • Technology
  • Operation of embassies
  • Direct connection to air flights, etc.

This Agreement was made possible by pressure from the United States on both sides, but there has also been a gradual improvement in relations between the two states over several years. This agreement is important in terms of the results it will create in the future because this “road” will be followed by other Sunni states such as Saudi Arabia.

Both the UAE and Saudi Arabia know that on their own these countries are very difficult to deal with Iran’s aggression and its infiltration into other Shiite Arab countries such as Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine and Yemen, where in Yemen a representative war is taking place between Saudi Arabia and Iran.

The gradual withdrawal of US influence in the Middle East is a vital priority for the Sunni states to now cooperate with Israel.

Because of Iran’s aggression, many Sunni states in the Middle East see Israel as the new major arm that will empower them in dealing with Iran more successfully.

The turning point of this Agreement will be the acquisition of an Israeli air base in the territory of the United Arab Emirates while placing there long-range missile systems, creating on the one hand a protection shield for the UAE and “fait accompli” in Iran.

By thus giving Israel the possibility of a long-term strike in Iran’s “deep hinterland”, Israel cancels Iran’s policies in Syria and Lebanon through Hezbollah, which until now had made it feared that Iran would strike within Israel’s territory.

The reactions of many mainly from the Palestinians, where they regard this Agreement as treason on the part of the UAE, in turn ignore the Palestinians that most Arab states together and Israel are deeply concerned about the threats and infiltration of Iran and Turkey respectively in the Middle East.

It is now the common risk (Iran) of all these states that this risk acquires elements of immediate priority for them by making it possible to implement this Agreement.
