Davos clearly marked the end of an era, but it left no room for debate as to what the beginning of a new one will be. As it is extremely difficult to discern where the ball will ultimately land when even the most friendly allies of the US such as Canada, the United Kingdom and Germany are now openly questioning Trump’s positions. And this was particularly evident in the speeches of the leaders of these countries in Davos, who also clearly advocated the need to organize an autonomous European defense as quickly as possible and to ensure the continued effective operation of the International Organizations that Trump openly despises and has already withdrawn from many of them.
While now the UN is threatening the operation of the much-discussed Peace Council, which was initially established solely with the aim of restoring peace in Gaza. And it is indicative of the attitude of the Europeans (apart from the usual suspects, the leaders of Hungary and Bulgaria) not to oppose this Organization, arguing that the Peace Council should limit its action in Gaza. In a Gaza where Washington, under the guidance of Trump’s son-in-law, has drawn up the well-known plan to transform this long-suffering region into a “Mediterranean Riviera” with skyscrapers like Dubai and other luxurious facilities.
When what comes next is to clean up all the incredibly exposed ruins in this area, causing a huge housing problem for the unfortunate Palestinians, who are not only dreaming of skyscrapers, but are looking for a piece of bread and a place to sleep. But this is the mentality of Trump, who as a “real estate agent” all he has on his mind is profit. And it is unfortunately in this suffocating atmosphere, which the megalomania of the American president has created, that the Europeans are now called upon to cooperate and overcome any disagreements they may have so that, united and strong, they can confront Trump and his antics.
The Peace Council – Private Global Political Organization – in Trump’s footsteps
The Peace Council is the culmination of a policy that in the last month alone has resulted in the US withdrawing from 66 international bodies (many of them under the auspices of the UN) dealing with climate, immigration, labor protection and other issues that constitute a red flag for the political and business environment of the American president. In the three years he has left in the White House, Trump aspires to shape the world to his own standards. This surpasses even the fantastic plans presented by his son-in-law Jared Kushner for transforming Gaza into a tourist resort.
It is imperative that the European Union, in cooperation with the UN, immediately transfer all the infrastructure and headquarters of the UN that are currently in New York and permanently settle in Paris – on European soil. Given that the American president hates the UN and wants to replace it with his own Peace Council, the USA is hostile territory for the UN and its headquarters in general. For this reason, the decision to relocate it to Europe must be taken immediately. China, which is proclaiming in all tones that it respects International Law, as does Russia, will have no problem with the relocation, but neither will the other countries. The UN cannot be held hostage by Trump, and given the EU’s commitment to international institutions, this would be a welcome choice.
