Germany approved the purchase of 20 Eurofighter Tranche.5 with a budget of €3.75 billion

Germany has announced that it has approved new armament programs worth a total of more than €7 billion, the top one being the purchase of 20 additional Eurofighter fighter jets, Tranche.5 version, at a budgeted cost of €3.75 billion. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2031 and be completed in 2034. An additional $412 million will be spent on the procurement of spare parts and the upgrade of simulators already in the German Air Force. The new batch of Eurofighters will have increased electronic warfare capabilities and are intended to replace the Tornado.

In addition, Germany has approved a program to upgrade the electronic warfare system of the aircraft in service, at a cost of €1.13 billion and a completion date of 2033. In addition to the new fighters, Germany has approved the purchase of additional Boxer armored vehicles (training and casualty evacuation), light vehicles and river crossing bridges. With the 20 additional Eurofighters, Germany will have 201 aircraft of the type, 33 of the Tranche.1 version (delivered), 79 of the Tranche.2 version (delivered), 31 of the Tranche.3A version (delivered), 38 of the Tranche.4 version (under delivery) and 20 of the Tranche.5 version (under delivery).
