Crack in the “Judeo-Christian” Alliance

Israel’s elaborate and powerful fortification of Gaza and Syria (long in the making), combined with the ongoing collapse of U.S. public support, signals an unprecedented split in the Judeo-Christian alliance and the rise of an underlying Darwinian, natural-historical multipolarity.

Israel is on the verge of an entirely new reality. Its leaders are now openly talking about permanent occupation of Gaza, and even parts of southern Syria. Benjamin Netanyahu, the infamous “Bibi,” has warned that the country must prepare for isolation, for a wartime “siege economy,” for industries that produce everything inside the Israeli fortress. This is not rhetorical exaggeration, but clear preparation for a world where sanctions could come not from Arab states (which have long been marginalized and rejected), but from the very West that once ensured Israel’s survival.

The moves on Mount Hermon, the highest peak in the Middle East on the border between Syria and Lebanon, the Israeli annexation of the Golan Heights, a fertile plateau taken from Syria in 1967 and recognized as a plot by Washington in 2019, the alliances with local councils in Suwayda, a Druze-majority province in southern Syria, and the prospect of a corridor through Daraa, the neighboring province known as the birthplace of the 2011 Syrian uprising, show a clear pattern: Occupy, occupy, normalize. Israel no longer hides its clear intention. The terrain becomes theology, the mountains become covenants, and geography merges with ideology. What was once considered a “temporary defense” is now hardening into a permanent form of aggression.

This shift coincides with a deep rift within the West itself. The post-war world order of 1945, and its failed child, the post-Cold War order, are disintegrating before our eyes. At the same time, the moral framework of “Judeo-Christian” solidarity that bound Israel to the West is beginning to break down. Polls in the United States show that support for Israel is collapsing: Gallup reports that only 32% of Americans approve of Israel’s actions in Gaza, while 60% disapprove. A poll by the highly respected Quinnipiac University Polling Company in Hamden, Connecticut, found that 60 percent of Americans oppose sending more U.S. military aid to Israel, with only 32 percent in favor. This erosion of the establishment is strongest among the young and independents, groups that will shape the future electorate.

Herein lies the deeper meaning of the event under consideration. The enduring alliance of interests and goals between Israel and the West was built not only on strategy but also on a shared identity. Israel was presented as the living bastion of a “Judeo-Christian” civilization. Churches, synagogues, and political pulpits all methodically and persistently maintained this vision. Now the vision is fading. Images of bombing outweigh proclamations. The “covenant,” Old or New, is dissolving in the public consciousness. For the first time, the Western public questions whether Israel’s actions match the values that its leaders once proclaimed.

This is the sign of the aforementioned “Darwinian,” i.e. natural-historical multipolarity. Power now belongs to those who adapt, who bring with them strength and credibility. Borders are changing again, alliances are mutating, and symbols are losing their automatic power. Israel can continue to act, continue to occupy, and continue to fortify, but it cannot rely on the same moral shield from the West. A rift is opening at the heart of the alliance, and through it the old world order is disappearing, slowly but surely.

The murder of truth continues in martyred Gaza! Questions, concerns, indignation, and shame are surging in the West. The former Chief of Staff of the Israeli Armed Forces, General Herzi Halevi, has publicly admitted that more than 10% of the civilian population of the Gaza Strip, that is, approximately 220,000 people out of a total of 2.2 million, have been killed or injured during the current Israeli military offensive. This admission completely refutes the claims of the Israeli government and reveals to the international public the true extent of the crimes committed against the Palestinian people. It is noteworthy that Halevi’s estimates of the number of innocent civilian casualties almost coincide with the figures of the Gaza Health Ministry, figures that Israel has repeatedly dismissed as “propaganda”.

The future will be written not with conditions or sermons, but with force, with public perception, with changing allegiances. The label of “Judeo-Christian” descent, which for generations connected the West and Israel, is weakening!

However, the Israeli army launched on Tuesday 17/9 the “main” part of its ground operation to capture Gaza City, the largest urban center of the Palestinian enclave. Israeli tanks are even razing the ruins of former homes, with Palestinians reporting that they are facing the heaviest shelling they have faced in two years of war. An Israeli army officer said bluntly: “The main operation against Gaza City began last night (…) we know that there are thousands of Hamas terrorists there!”

Meanwhile, a United Nations investigation concluded that Israel had committed genocide in Gaza, instigated by top officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Israel called the assessment “scandalous” and “false”!

The international community, the Governments – except for the “given” US –, the international organizations and the institutions of the European Union should have taken immediate action to impose an end to the Israeli military attack, to protect civilians, to immediately open all border crossings so that humanitarian aid can pass through, but also to refer all those responsible for war crimes to the International Court of Justice…. “Empty words, unexecuted, smoke and soot!” What will follow sooner or later will be harsh indeed, shaped only by power.
