The huge and imposing silhouette of President Trump rises before the spotlight of the world stage, neither as a king nor as a dictator. He slips easily, masterfully jumping from the enthusiastic mass rallies of the popular MAGA movement to the intertwined corridors of the “Beltway” of the central political scene – the “Beltway” – with the complex issues of interest to US federal government officials, large contractors, lobbyists and media personnel, beyond the general public. He traces this peculiar behavioral and communication curve, which implies “two souls in one chest”.
More and more voices on the internet confirm that its social base is clearly divided on Israel and Iran: Outspoken “Isolationists” openly urge restraint, warning that deep US involvement against Iran and in favor of Israel would irreparably damage the credentials of the MAGA movement – “America First.” Typical figures of this trend are the inimitable and bold patriotic journalist Tucker Carlson, the President’s notorious former “chief of staff,” Steve Bannon, apologist for Julius Evola, and the fearless patriotic congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene. [Green is a “Christian, Mother, and American” politician and businesswoman who describes herself as a “Christian Nationalist” and has served as a Member of the United States House of Representatives for Georgia’s 14th congressional district since January 2021. She is a member of the Republican Party. She has promoted white supremacist issues and made anti-Zionist statements (which were denounced by the Jerusalem Post). She has also repeatedly openly supported the far-right Christian opinion movement “QAnon,” which persistently denounces that a clique of Satanic cannibalistic pedophiles runs a global child trafficking ring.]
Meanwhile, the fanatical representatives of the other side, the pro-Israel and Zionist “Neoconservatives”, as well as the belligerent Republican “hierarchs”, are passionately pushing for action against Iran, accusing Trump of weakness, unless he further arms the “faithful ally” and strengthens deterrence with military American intervention!
And the President, like another acrobat balancing act, moves between the sociopolitical poles, on a fragile “tight rope.” This thin rope probably requires another pro-Israeli balancing act: a few more cruise missiles, one or two huge “shelter-punching” bombs. “Gifts” enough to satisfy the Neoconservatives, stop the “mild” criticism, and keep Netanyahu happy. Enough to wave the allied banners of solidarity.
Scholars call this option the “Israel Model”: unfettered support that allows valuable allies complete logistical autonomy, even if it limits American ground forces. Trump’s own aides confirm this: The arms sales, the Pentagon-led force deployments, and the “regional” US diplomatic posture are all appropriately weighted and calibrated to signal overwhelming American power while avoiding another Iraq-style military stalemate.
The apparent anger of the MAGA movement over Trump’s “exceptional” praise of Israel’s attacks underscores the existing divisions. Commentators speak of a “MAGA civil war,” voices crying treason over a potential American coercion of military involvement on Israel’s behalf. Polls show that only about a fifth of the President’s supporters support a US attack. So he obviously can’t ignore these divisions. He must hover between: reassuring neoconservatives with a calibrated offer of power to Israel and appeasing isolationists, vaguely stating his disavowals and denials. After all, he has denied giving the “green light” to attack plans against Iran, in order to maintain his credibility with most of his supporters.
The tightrope walker fears the fall. The show of excessive force against Iran triggers a widespread MAGA backlash: bitter anger at the potential for an “Iraq 2.0.” The show of limited force emboldens the neocons and portrays the President as weak. The digital chorus visibly confirms his indecision as he says, “I might do it, but I can do it another way!” He hints at the possibility of action and then backs down. He authorizes bombs but withdraws and redeploys troops. He places aircraft carriers in operationally viable areas but refuses to authorize their use. This is the art of cunning and well-directed showmanship: Enough smoke to flatter the hawks, enough mirrors to appease the populists.
The President is not at all naive: Obviously Iran is not Iraq! It cannot be dissolved by the method followed in Iraq. It is a country with strong social cohesion, with a national army and with its political-military system built to wage endless guerrilla war if necessary. It is a very large country, with enormous capabilities. It has methodically prepared, asymmetric offensive and defensive tactics and operational capabilities of war. So it is not at all certain what will happen in case the Americans get involved on the side of Israel. Unless of course they want to fall into a situation of generalized total war.
Thus, Trump remains stuck on the tightrope. He nods to MAGA, repeats “America First”, promises his unwavering opposition to “endless wars”. At the same time, however, it drinks the biblical name from the chalice of the Neoconservatives: It arms Israel, develops abundant advanced military means in its favor and decisively repels Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Specialists characterize this act as “reverse neoconservatism” or “hybrid hesitation”. What emerges is a peculiar balance: No “Iraq 2.0”, only possible targeted strikes, that is, a theater that saves its face, but also the “chosen” ally: That is, Israel will eliminate key figures in the Iranian leadership, isolate the rest from the people, so as to create a vacuum in power and activate and strengthen centrifugal tendencies within Iran. In other words, it is sought to have a generalized uprising of the population, of the national minorities, with the aim of dissolving the Iranian state “from within”, or changing the regime. This has a realistic basis……However, the overthrow of Gaddafi in Libya also had a realistic basis and we saw what the USA paid for it!
With one hand, Trump simultaneously satisfies two groups of spectators, two audiences, while with the other… he temporarily repels chaos. The rope of History will be stretched more, the spotlight will remain on him. In this demanding and dangerous performance, Trump is neither a dominator nor a tyrant. He is a jester and at the same time a conductor, balancing between the two groups of spectators with each hesitant step.
From the day of his election to the presidential office, addressing European patriots across the planet, we wrote clearly that compared to Biden’s slogan, Trump’s victory was clearly preferable, but they should not have inappropriate and overly optimistic illusions about the very capable returned President of the United States. Not of course because of his son-in-law (by his daughter Ivanka) and former advisor to the Zionist Jared Corey Kushner (who drafted Trump’s peace plan for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, announced in January 2020 and considered extremely favorable to Israel), nor because he immediately recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel… But because clearly, by origin, worldview and position, he is not the One who will completely overthrow the global system of the International Sovereigns.
Obviously, as recorded by the Evangelist Matthew (6: 24), our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of Europe and protector of Europeans everywhere, said: “You cannot serve God and mammon!”
But do not underestimate Trump prematurely! In a short time we will see his “Great Choice”. For the salvation of Peace or for the downfall of humanity in Tartarus.
