L’Etape Greece by Tour de France presented by Skoda: In the footsteps of History

For the third consecutive year, the legend of the Tour de France, the cycling race of France, which in recent years has expanded its horizons by including parallel races in many international destinations in its program (including China, Thailand, Mexico, Brazil and Australia), meets the Greek myth in Ancient Olympia. The Greek leg of the famous race is called “L’ Etape Greece by Tour de France presented by Skoda” and is divided into individual routes entitled “The Race”, “The Ride” and “The Fun Ride”. The first, “The Race”, is 150 kilometers long with 2,500 altitude gains, passing through emblematic areas, with cyclists traveling two circuits with many feeding stations.

The second route, “The Ride”, 85 kilometers long with 1,400 altitude gains, is a shorter loop, while the third route, “The Fun Ride”, 17 kilometers long, is flat, as an easy cycling excursion, without altitude gains and without timing, with closed roads and safety escort for all cyclists. Starting from Ancient Olympia, the cyclists passed yesterday Saturday through Platanos, Pelopion, Smila, Magoula and the ancient oak forest of Foloi. The route then continued through vineyards and olive groves in Karatoula and Mouzaki, before reaching Agia Anna, Pefki, Nea Persaina and Milies, with the journey concluding in Neraida and Latzoi, offering unique experiences in Greek nature and historical landmarks.

In addition to these, in Ancient Olympia, the epicenter of the event, a grand celebration was held by Kosmocar-Skoda, which as the exclusive nominal sponsor and Official Mobility Partner welcomed hundreds of visitors, who saw up close the newest all-electric SUV Elroq and the Octavia RS.

A feast for tradition

However, Skoda’s relationship with cycling goes beyond creating a team, sponsoring the naming of the cycling race or providing its cars for its safe implementation. The brand, which is today one of the most characteristic “success stories” on the European market in recent decades, has been a pioneer in bicycle manufacturing since 1895, when Vaclav Laurin and Vaclav Klement set up their first workshop in the Czech city of Mlada Boleslav.
