Popular actor Ryan Reynolds (see Deadpool) does. Likewise Sebastian Stan (see Winter Soldier). By using a barbell, which you usually perform relentless chin-ups, you can get a visible six pack, just by hanging your body from the bar.
This “hanging workout” is a simple movement that can stimulate many muscle groups of the upper and lower body, with the primary goal of strengthening the core. All you have to do is add an extra movement: raising your knees to chest height.
- Place hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart, palms facing forward. When “hanging”, the legs do not touch the floor.
- Brace your core and use your abs to bring your knees up.
- The moment the knees come to the level of the pelvis, you attempt a turn of the lumbar region to the left and immediately a turn to the right.
- Each time, the knees should reach chest height.
This is a repeat. You repeat 8 times for 4 sets.
Do not try to shake the trunk. Brace your upper body as much as possible from your hand grips to the bar and aim for core stability. First of all, try to keep the spine straight throughout the movement, and don’t raise the shoulders to facilitate lifting the legs.
