Thousands of Ukrainians trapped in Kurakhovo and now hoping for a miracle

The Ukrainian armed forces have found themselves surrounded near the village of Annovka, which is located south of the city of Kurakhovo in Donbas. The news is being reported by various Ukrainian sources on the Internet at this time, Friday, December 13, causing hysteria among the soldiers.

Among others, the encirclement was confirmed by the commander of a platoon of the 24th Ukrainian battalion Aidar. According to him, the situation in the “Kurakhovo enclave” is rapidly deteriorating and is becoming more and more critical for his soldiers.

Not only are the Ukrainians trapped in a small area of land, but the Russian army is using artillery, aviation and ground assault groups to regularly hit them and to cut them off from supply routes.

“The situation in the Kurakhovo area is particularly difficult. We urgently need reinforcements and artillery support, otherwise we will lose this area,” the Ukrainian commander wrote.

As we have informed you in the past, Kurakhovo is of strategic importance because it serves as the core of Ukrainian military operations for the southern Donetsk region. It is essentially the “Pokrovsk of southern Donetsk.”

As you can see on the map, Russian units have surrounded Kurakhovo from the north and south and have trapped Ukrainian soldiers in a small “enclave.” If the Russian advance continues, then we will be talking about the complete encirclement of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers.

Kiev Air Base Hit

Meanwhile, Russia’s RIA Novosti reported that Russian aircraft struck a closed runway in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev.

“The strike took place in the Kiev region one minute after midnight. Eyewitnesses reported that the explosion was heard from the direction of Kiev International Airport in Zhuliany district, which is 7 kilometers from the city center. Apparently, the target was not Kiev International Airport, but another airport belonging to the Ukrainian Aviation University. This place is very mysterious and access to it is prohibited. According to pro-Russian informants, Ukrainian pilots are still being trained there, while the infrastructure also includes aircraft hangars and weapons depots,” a Ukrainian pro-Russian informant for the Russian website said.

He added that last night Russia struck a Ukrainian target on the outskirts of the city of Boryspil. The explosion took place near the Skyline aircraft factory.
