Armoured Battle Tanks retain their importance in the strategy and tactics of modern warfare

The Armoured Battle Tank remains one of the most critical elements in modern combat, despite the challenges posed by anti-tank weapons. Its importance is confirmed by the video we publish, where we see a Ukrainian National Guard tank fighting very close to enemy positions in the Luhansk region, effectively crushing Russian defenses. This video is a small demonstration, but it highlights the necessity of tanks on modern battlefields.

Tanks offer a mobile force that no other vehicle can match. Their ability to move quickly and provide gun support is invaluable in situations where infantry must move quickly and maintain the initiative. In scenes like the one in the video, the tank can destroy enemy positions from a distance, thus protecting soldiers from the initial direct confrontation with enemy positions. The infantry simply has to move and do the final cleanup.

Despite the existence of dangerous anti-tank weapons, modern tanks are equipped with active and passive protection, such as active armor and anti-tank missile interception systems, which increase their likelihood of withstanding attacks. In short, the tank is evolving, and it can continue to survive on the battlefield, despite the various “Cassandras” that have been predicting its disappearance for almost 100 years!

We must not forget that the presence of tanks on the field is a psychological advantage. The sight of a tank can affect the morale of the enemy, while at the same time boosting the morale of friendly forces. The knowledge that there is such firepower and protection next to the Infantry reduces fear and increases the determination to take offensive action.

If the infantry does not have the support of friendly tanks, it is vulnerable to attacks by enemy tanks. Without proper tank support, the infantry faces serious survival problems, as enemy tanks can destroy the infantry’s positions. And in a frontal attack, tanks are very difficult to destroy by anti-tank weapons. Moreover, if the tanks are accompanied by TOMA, then the only thing that can stop them is either mines or aviation.

In summary, despite the threat of Infantry anti-tank weapons, tanks continue to constitute the backbone of the Land Army, maintaining their importance in the strategy and tactics of modern warfare.
