It seems that an agreement has been reached, under the table, between the US and Israel so that the latter’s air force does not attack Iran’s sensitive facilities, which will lead to open war and upheaval in the Middle East.
It is recalled that Tel Aviv is planning a response to the second barrage of ballistic missiles it received from Iran on October 1, the second in six months.
A quiet US-Israel deal has been struck, promising to “reward” Israel for refraining from targeting Iran’s oil industry and nuclear power infrastructure, in order to reduce the risk of all-out war ahead of the US election, according to Israeli and US security sources.
At present, there is nothing in writing, and nothing has been clearly said, but the understanding is obviously there.
According to these sources, the “compensation” includes the lifting of the US suspension of certain arms and ammunition shipments to Israel and the acceleration of their supply, as well as the supply of heavy engineering equipment such as D9 bulldozers.
The package also includes increased U.S. strikes on Houthi weapons caches and other strategic targets in Yemen — a promise that appears to have been fulfilled with the Oct. 16 U.S. strike on Houthi weapons caches in Yemen.
The Pentagon is said to be considering enhanced operational cooperation and the deployment of a second THAAD anti-missile artillery in Israel, in addition to the one deployed in recent days to bolster Israel’s anti-missile defenses.
Both Israeli and US officials believe Iran is likely to respond to the expected Israeli attack, which will reportedly target military and other sites.
The US should make it clear to Iran in a convincing and creative way that it is behind Israel in order to force Iran in turn to break the cycle of reactions so as not to break out into a total war.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken arrived in Israel on Tuesday morning, October 22, – his first stop on his regional tour – to monitor Israeli preparations for a possible attack and seek to limit its scope.
Blinken argued that with the big heads of Hamas and Hezbollah eliminated, the way is now clear for Israel to reach an arrangement that will end the war on both fronts.
The region has reached a strategic and perhaps even historical crossroads. In our estimation, Hezbollah wants to end the war, they have received the worst blow in their history, they have exhausted the event. Iran also wants an end. Hamas has ceased to function as a governmental or military body. Israel has nothing else to pursue. (for more analysis on this particular topic please read our analysis titled “Israel needs a political endgame, not just military superiority“).
However, it is noted that the above was leaked because both Israelis and Americans wanted it.
