Ramstein Flag 24: F-4E PI 2000, Hellenic Air Force F-16, Gripen (11Aviation vid.)

The multinational NATO exercise “Ramstein Flag 24” (RAFL24) begins on Monday, September 30 with the focus on the Andravida air base in Greece, but 11Aviation has been in the area since September 25 capturing impressive moments from its preliminary phases, specifically the fighter flights at low altitudes.

It is recalled that “Ramstein Flag 24” is now the main training activity of the Allied Air Command (AIRCOM: Air Command) and this year it is being held for the first time. It is important on multiple levels that Greece was chosen as the venue for the maiden exercise.

“Ramstein Flag 24”, conducted by AIRCOM in cooperation with the Hellenic Air Force, will last until October 11, 2024 and will involve more than 140 fighters, unmanned aircraft (MQ-9 Reaper), aerial early warning aircraft, electronic warfare and tactical transport aircraft from 13 allied countries.

According to AIRCOM announcements, RAFL24 is designed to provide Allied forces with the opportunity to practice NATO TTP: Tactics, Techniques and Procedures in realistic multi-domain operational scenarios. That is, Allied air, land, sea, space and cyber/electromagnetic operations under NATO command and control.

The main objective of RAFL24 is to enhance cooperation, interoperability and integration of Allied forces and to demonstrate NATO’s resolve, commitment and ability to deter potential adversaries and defend the Alliance through multi-sector operations.

RAFL24 will enable the Alliance to practice and refine counter anti-access/area denial (C-A2/AD) and integrated air and missile defense (IAMD) tactics, techniques and procedures Air and Missile Defense) to protect NATO populations, territories and forces against any ballistic missile threat.
