Very interesting photos of F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet. The photos show a US Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet in ‘Beast Mode’ of air superiority. The aircraft carries nine long-, medium- and short-range air-to-air missiles. Specifically, it carries four AIM-174B long-range missiles, three AIM-120 AMRAAM medium-range missiles and two AIM-9X Sidewinder short-range missiles. As the post states, this particular F/A-18 Super Hornet belongs to the 9th Test and Evaluation Squadron (VX-9). The AIM-174B missile is the aviation version of the SM-6 naval anti-aircraft missile. It should also be noted that the aircraft also carries an infrared search and target detection (IRST) system, in the central mounting station, and an ATFLIR targeting pod.
