Hanwha Ocean presented the Ocean-4300 frigate design

South Korea’s Hanwha Ocean has unveiled its new Ocean-4300 frigate design that emphasizes firepower. The Ocean-4300 frigate is designed to perform anti-submarine warfare and air defense missions.

The design of the frigate is modular and with an open architecture so that it can integrate sensors and weapons, according to the operational requirements of the user. Also, the user can choose sensors and electronic systems from Hanwha Systems or another company.

The displacement of the Ocean-4300 is 4,300-5,000 tons, depending on the configuration, and incorporates a CODLOG (Combined Diesel-Electric and Gas) propulsion system. It also incorporates fin and towed sonar for superior anti-submarine warfare capabilities. In their basic configuration the Ocean-4300s incorporate 32 vertical launch cells, South Korean KVLS-I or American Mk.41.
