Fighting in the Ukrainian region of Kharkiv continues unabated, with Ukrainians frantically trying to stop the Russian advance on the city of Kharkiv.
Terrible Russian Hits
The Russian military captured more territory in 5 days than Ukrainian forces captured during last summer’s three-month spring counteroffensive.
More specifically, the Russian army achieved significant gains in the last 5 days on the Ukrainian military map, capturing a large area that had been recaptured by the Ukrainians during last year’s counterattack. This counterattack had begun in the summer of 2023 and was completed in the fall of this year.
As a result of the new Russian mass offensive that began on Friday, Russian troops gained control of an area totaling 186 square kilometers. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that in the first 12 hours of Friday, 135 Ukrainian soldiers were neutralized. Since then Ukrainian forces have been losing around 500 soldiers every day, the Kremlin added. At the same time, 100 members of the Ukrainian military personnel have been captured so far.
The Russian successes were achieved thanks to the rapid and well-organized attacks carried out by the Russian army in the last 24 hours. Moscow’s operations against Ukrainian positions proved highly effective, destabilizing the Ukrainian leadership and hurting the morale of the Kiev military. Moscow said the main reason its attacks were successful was the very good organization of the soldiers, as well as the flawless coordination between artillery, air force and infantry.
At the moment, the media are reporting that fierce clashes continue unabated between the warring parties in the Kharkov region, where Russian troops are attacking two main directions: the direction of the city of Kharkov and the direction of Volchank, a strategically important village.
Russian forces completely occupied the settlement of Lukyanchi and penetrated into Glubokoye, where they raised the Russian flag. It seems that the next target of Putin’s forces is Lipzi, which is described by the Russian media as a settlement of strategic importance. Whichever army controls Lipzi controls the nearby dam and surrounding roads, which are of critical value.
