Ukraine’s parliament (Verkhovna Rada) responded with a threat to the call of the Moldavian Republic of Transnistria against Russian forces there, with a scenario of action against the area where there are huge Russian ammunition bases, which could be used in an impending Russian attack on Odessa.
In particular, Ukrainian MP Alexei Goncharenko said that Kiev is ready to help Moldova “eliminate the thorn of Transnistria” even now, and in return to gain access to huge Russian ammunition depots.
“It’s time to close this issue a long time ago, because (the Russians) took all kinds of benefits. They spit on Moldova, the separatists and also take advantage of some benefits,” he said. The Ukrainian MP admitted that “there are some armed forces controlled by Russia”, but he is convinced that they do not have combat capability.
“These many thousands of people who are there will be exterminated by two Ukrainian brigades immediately. There is nothing to fear. Russia, thank God, does not have direct access to Transnistria; the sky is also blocked by Ukrainian air defense, so they are not a serious threat there,” believes the Ukrainian MP.
At the same time, he threatened that someday Kiev will definitely deal with Transnistria, noting that “Ukraine could have solved this issue a long time ago.”
“We could eliminate this thorn in our bottom, which periodically tries to make us tremble, and secondly, help Moldova restore its territorial integrity. By the way, there are ammunition depots there, and ammunition is an important issue, as we understand.
Therefore, someday, sooner or later, we will definitely have to deal with this issue together with Moldova, if it cannot cope on its own,” Goncharenko concluded.
As mentioned earlier, the Deputy President of the Supreme Council of the Moldavian Republic of Transnistria Galina Antufeyeva explained that the appeal of Transnistrian deputies to the State Duma and the Russian Federation Council is not valid for the recognition of the independence of this republic.
Since 2017, it has become known that a new front is being opened by the USA in Romania (they also have a base in Moldova) with the direct and main goal of expelling the Russian armed forces based in Transnistria…at all costs.
The Americans are preparing forces and a base in Moldova, raising opposition within the country and intervention by the country’s president.
The US Navy is looking for contractors to build new military facilities in Moldova in the village of Bulboaca, which means there is a plan for a heavy presence of NATO forces in the Black Sea.
Also, Moldova’s constitutional court has ruled for years that Russian peacekeepers should immediately leave Transnistria.
The scenarios that appear from NATO’s side for Moldova are quite a few, but they all come to one conclusion: “The Russian troops must be expelled from the region at all costs.”
