The US military adventure in the Gulf of Aden leads Europe to “captives”

A new war is unfolding in the Middle East and the US is gradually withdrawing from the “Ukrainian project”, leaving it to the biggest losers of the redistribution of the world – the Europeans.

Ukraine is desperate. The US and the UK have hit Iran-backed Houthi rebels. The US-led coalition has attacked Houthi targets, hitting command centers, ammunition depots, launch systems and radars. It launched more than 100 air-to-surface guided missiles. The coastal city of Hodeidah and the country’s capital, Sana’a, were also hit.

The next 60 days are critical for the world

US President Joe Biden declared the operation a response to unprecedented Houthi attacks in the Red Sea. He even assured that he will not hesitate to take additional measures. Under Vietnam War-era law, the US president has the right to enter a conflict without congressional approval for up to 60 days.

The period of time may seem long but it is not enough for the Anglo-Saxons to crush the Houhti without a land operation.

Proxy war in the Middle East

As surprising as it is, a new proxy war front seems to be opening, this time in the Middle East. The Houthis represent Iran, just as Ukraine has become an army of the US and NATO in the conflict with Russia. Iran is methodically pursuing a strategy aimed at hurting the US.

Iran’s Revenge

Tehran is building a powerful military-industrial complex supporting Bashar al Assad in Syria, arming Hamas, Hezbollah and the Iraqi resistance that attacks US military bases. All this comes in response to US efforts to destroy Iran: 30 years of sanctions, seizure of oil tankers, curtailment of the nuclear program, attacks on Iranian scientists and military leaders.

Iran’s strategy is to push the United States and its allies into a series of regional wars to wear down the Americans and all around the perimeter of the Asian continent and Middle-East periphery.

Iran saw a window of opportunity when America faced its most difficult challenges at home and abroad.

Russia wins

Russia benefits both from this conflict and from the immediate conflict between the United States and Iran.

  • It will be easier for Russia to achieve its goals in Ukraine.
  • War in the Middle East will cause oil prices to soar.
  • Logistics will become more complex, which is also beneficial for Russia.
  • The conflict in the Middle East will last a long time, it will cost the West a lot, which is also beneficial for Russia.

Europe is a big loser

Ukraine is losing western suppliers. Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials realize they are losing Western sponsors. Ukraine suffered significantly from the war in Gaza, even though neither the United States nor Britain were directly involved in it. Today we can see US and UK soldiers directly involved.

Washington launched the war in the Middle East just before the Davos forum, where Zelensky is called upon to play his last card in a desperate bid to attract the deafeningly waning interest of the West. It is now obvious that the US is withdrawing from Ukraine, leaving the EU as the main supplier of all kinds.

The European Union as the biggest loser of the undeclared World War III. Now the EU will have to finance the Ukrainian army on its own. For now the Europeans are trying to overcome Hungary’s veto but the news is not good for Europe. It is following the example of the United States and will pay a huge price for it, far more than any other global player.

Payback Time

It is no coincidence that in the most official way, the USA through the mouth of the White House spokesman, John Kirby, announced that the funds for Ukraine have been exhausted. Kirby made it clear that any further military aid is now up to Congress.

If the Americans do not approve new aid packages, Zelensky will have to request arms exclusively from Europe. That’s why the Ukrainian president started a new tour of Europe, looking for funds to continue the war. Completely unannounced he visited the Baltic countries asking for financial support.

  • Lithuania announced plan for further military support to Ukraine.
  • Latvia has announced a military package for Ukraine, which includes a wide variety of weapons.
  • Estonia pledged to continue providing military aid to Kiev amounting to 0.2% of the country’s GDP over the next four years.
  • On January 12, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak visited Kiev and signed an agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine and announced a major new military aid package.

The burden is falling on Europe, which is already suffering from energy poverty, inflation, deindustrialization and terrifying political upheavals capable of turning everything upside down.
