Czech Republic selects Brazilian C-390 Millennium as its new transport aircraft

The Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic has announced that it will start negotiations with the Brazilian Embraer for the supply of C-390 Millennium transport aircraft. The Czech Republic intends to acquire two aircraft of the type in various roles (general transport, aerial refueling, casualty transport, humanitarian aid and firefighting). The C-390 Millennium requires a crew of three and can carry up to 80 fully equipped soldiers or 74 stretchers and eight attendants or 66 paratroopers or a maximum weight of 26 tonnes of cargo. The maximum take-off weight is 87 tonnes. It reaches a maximum speed of 988 kilometers per hour, with a typical cruising speed of 870 kilometers per hour. With a load of 14 tons its range is 5,820 kilometers, while with a maximum load of 26 tons its range is 2,110 kilometers. Its maximum operational altitude is 36,000 feet. Externally, it incorporates three spindle suspension points.
