Poland has announced that it has proceeded with the procurement of hundreds of NSM (Naval Strike Missile) coastal defense missiles, worth $2 billion. Specifically, Poland proceeded to purchase two additional coastal defense systems with NSM missiles. The systems will strengthen Poland’s coastal defenses in the Baltic Sea. In addition to the missiles, the contract also includes the supply of the necessary support vehicles (launchers, command vehicles), materials and support and training services. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2026 and be completed in 2032. Polish companies will also participate in the production of the systems and missiles. The NSM has a minimum range of 3km and a maximum of 185+. It incorporates a 120 kg armor-piercing warhead and uses an inertial navigation system, GPS and terrain reference. The NSM flies at a very low altitude and can perform high-G maneuvers, while incorporating a ship profile memory system that it uses for target recognition.
