Burkina Faso signs a defense agreement with Russia! – West Africa is coming under Russian influence

A Russian delegation held talks with the transitional president of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, about a possible military cooperation between the two states.

According to the statement, the visit of the delegation, headed by Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yunus Bek Yevkurov, followed the talks between Captain Traore and Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg in July. Moscow has confirmed once again that it supports the independence of Burkina Faso.

It is noted that the French forces that were in the country left in February. Since then, it was considered certain that Burkina Faso would strengthen its relations with Russia, like neighboring Mali, where Wagner’s fighters operate in harmony.

The meeting discussed “areas of cooperation” that “primarily concern military cooperation, including officer training at all levels,” among “pilots in Russia,” according to the statement. It was not specified whether Russian military trainers will be sent to Burkina Faso.

The late head of Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, had created a network of companies and interests in various African countries, and Moscow intends to maintain and expand it.

It is worth noting that in less than three years, there have been eight coups in six West African countries, which until now were Francophile and therefore Western-friendly.

Guinea, Niger, Gabon, Mali, Burkian Faso and Chad have completely changed their geopolitical orientation and are rapidly moving towards the Russo-Chinese axis.
