Air raid sirens sounded in Kiev, as well as in Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava and Sumy regions – Successful Russian raids were confirmed in the Odesa region and in the industrial zone of the city of Zaporizhia.
On the afternoon of August 14, Russian forces launched a new wave of attacks on Ukrainian ports and military infrastructure in various regions. According to local reports, Russian missiles and UAVs were used during the attack. Kiev again acknowledges alleged strikes on civilian infrastructure, concealing the truth about the destruction of military facilities.
Air raid sirens sounded in Kyiv, as well as in the Kyiv region, in Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava and Sumy regions. Successful Russian raids have been confirmed in the Odesa region and in the industrial zone of the city of Zaporizhia.
A massive combined attack of Russian missiles and UAVs hit the Odesa region. The new wave of strikes on Ukrainian ports is likely a response to the recent attempt by the Kiev regime to attack the Crimean bridgehead and the Crimean peninsula.
According to Ukrainian reports, 15 Geranium UAVs and 8 Kaliber missiles were used for the strikes. Despite the statements of the Ukrainian military about the successful operation of the air defense forces and the interception of the Russian targets, footage from the scene confirms the opposite. Numerous explosions rumbled across the areas, while fierce fires broke out at local strategic facilities.
Footage from the city confirmed a large fire had broken out at the local supermarket. However, there is a strong possibility that the building was hit by Ukrainian air defenses and not by downed Russian missiles.
On August 14, the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lt. Gen. Sergey Naev, explained why Russian drones are difficult to shoot down and can fly into Kiev. According to the Ukrainian military, the problem is that “the detection of Russian UAVs is mostly done acoustically (from the sound of the engine) lately.” As a result, accurate prediction of UAV flight paths and timely reaction of Ukrainian mobile fire groups is complicated.
