Britain is creating a Global Immediate Reaction force

London is accelerating the strengthening of its defense capabilities, announcing the investment of 2.9 billion euros to accumulate a sufficient stockpile of ammunition and weapons as well as to create a military force capable of immediate action anywhere on the planet.

As the country’s Defense Minister, Ben Wallace, pointed out in his statements, speaking about the renewal of the country’s Strategic Charter (Defence Command Paper Refresh, DCP23) which was published and describes the strategic objectives at the defense level, the United Kingdom must modernize its armed forces in order to be able to face modern threats, such as the one in Ukraine.

As the country’s Defense Minister, Ben Wallace, pointed out in his statements, speaking about the renewal of the country’s Strategic Charter (Defence Command Paper Refresh, DCP23) which was published and describes the strategic objectives at the defense level, the United Kingdom must modernize its armed forces in order to be able to face modern threats, such as the one in Ukraine.

At the same time, the government’s goal is to intervene first – “get there first” as it was pointed out – in crises all over the planet. Furthermore, the country has already exceeded 2% of GDP per year for defense spending (the NATO limit) and will increase it to 2.5%. In addition to the above, announcements were made for:

  • improvement of the living conditions of the members of the armed forces, making available approximately 500 million euros
  • effort to acquire advanced systems, which will utilize cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, etc.
  • better utilization of the reserves of the armed forces, so as to
  • improve their response time in a crisis
  • better cooperation with the defense industry
