Bakhmut, a city in eastern Ukraine, has been the scene of fierce fighting for months. The head of the Ukrainian army, General Valery Zaluzny, said on Saturday that Ukraine still controls Bakhmut and is trying to “stabilize” the front line around it.

Prigozhin also released video which appears to show Wagner fighters in front of the sign at the entrance to Krasna Hora.

In his message, Prigozhin pointed out that only Wagner’s mercenary troops are fighting “within a radius of about 50 kilometers” around Bakhmut and, if the city is captured, it will be by the organization’s fighters.

He had also estimated that Moscow would need two years to fully control the two eastern Ukrainian provinces — Donetsk and Luhansk — the conquest of which has been presented by Russia as the main goal of the war.
