Ukraine: 14 dead from the Russian missile attack on the Dnieper

The death toll from a Russian missile strike that destroyed an apartment building in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro has risen to 14, as rescue workers searched for survivors throughout the night, the regional governor said early today.

“The search operation continues,” Valentin Reznichenko, governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region in east-central Ukraine, said in a message on the Telegram platform.

According to him, 38 people were rescued, more than 20 are missing while an unspecified number of residents remained trapped under the pile of rubble after the attack that took place yesterday evening and resulted in at least 64 people being injured.

The strikes hit critical infrastructure in Kyiv and other regions, causing widespread power outages in the heart of winter in the capital and other large parts of the country that will continue in the coming days, officials warned.
