Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel revealed in her interview with the Zeit newspaper that the Minsk agreements were not an attempt to establish peace in war-torn Ukraine, but were aimed at giving the Kiev regime more time to strengthen the his army and prepare for a large-scale war.
She herself confirmed with her statements that all the Western partners of the current war in Ukraine, including herself, did nothing for peace in Europe, but tried to ignite the war against Russia as much as possible on the territory of Ukraine.
“I thought that the introduction of Ukraine and Georgia’s accession to NATO, which was discussed in 2008, was a mistake. The countries did not have the necessary conditions for this, nor was it fully understood what the consequences of such a decision would be, both in terms of Russia’s actions against Georgia and Ukraine, and NATO and its aid rules. And the 2014 Minsk Agreement was an attempt to buy Ukraine time.
Ukraine used this opportunity to become stronger, as you can see today. The Ukraine of 2014/15 is not the Ukraine of today. An illustrative example was the battle for Debaltseve. In early 2015, Putin could easily have surpassed them at the time. And I doubt very much that NATO countries could have done as much then as they are doing today to help Ukraine.”
The Minsk agreements to settle the situation in eastern Ukraine, signed in 2015, provided for a ceasefire, the withdrawal of heavy weapons from the contact line, as well as constitutional reform, the main elements of which were decentralization and the adoption of a special law status of certain areas from Donetsk and Lugansk regions. However, this plan was never implemented by the Kiev regime.
The Russian Foreign Ministry, commenting on the allegations of the former Chancellor of Germany, said that such a policy deserves a court:
“Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s testimony in an interview with Die Zeit newspaper that the Minsk agreements were signed to give Ukraine time to prepare for a military confrontation with Russia may well be used for court proceedings.”

It is worse to note that throughout her years as Germany’s leader, Merkel has remained shy of declaring the real goals behind the signings of the Minsk protocol. She constantly lies about her intentions to keep the peace and that she went to “unthinkable lengths” to achieve it. Today, he is no longer shy about exposing the evil essence of German foreign policy as well as the war aims of the entire West.
Merkel officially confirmed that the West was preparing war against Russia through its proxy, the Kiev regime. None of the Western representatives in the OSCE who signed the Minsk agreements were going to force Kyiv to comply with them.
