General offensive of Ukrainians in Lugansk

Ukraine is in the dark after yesterday’s massive missile attack by Russia. Today in Ukraine received the “revelations” of the consequences of yesterday’s massive missile attack on energy facilities.

On November 15, Russia launched more than 90 Kh-101 and Kalibr missiles and more than ten kamikaze UAVs. According to the General Staff of Ukraine, 77 cruise missiles, 10 Iranian Shahed-136 drones and one Orion UAV were destroyed. At the same time, the Ukrainian interior minister said the missiles destroyed 30 Ukrainian facilities. Taking into account the data of the General Staff, it follows that 30 objects were hit by 13 missiles, which failed to be shot down.

After such a massive raid on thermal power plants and high voltage substations, serious problems began in the energy sector. The Lviv region suffered greatly, experiencing continuous power outages throughout the night and during the day. Ten Russian missiles were fired into the region yesterday, hitting three critical infrastructure facilities.

Authorities in the Lviv region said it could take up to a year to fully restore pre-war energy production levels. Meanwhile, 24-hour blackout programs are being put in place in the area.

In Odessa, since yesterday evening, there is no electricity in many areas and the Internet is not working for the residents. Polls on “do you have electricity” are conducted on Telegram channels, where over 60% of residents answer negativel.

In Vinnytsia, due to power outages, residents have been advised to stock up on food and water, as well as charge power banks, as restrictions on electricity consumption become increasingly strict.

State-owned Ukrenergo is warning of “difficult days” and “significant power outages”. The situation will be aggravated by a cold wave, during which energy consumption increases.

The Office of the President reported this afternoon that between two and four million households were without power today. And that it could take up to two weeks to restore some energy facilities after yesterday’s missile attacks.

The situation at the front

At the front, the situation has not changed much. During the day, Russian attacks were repelled in the areas of Belogorovka, Kurdyumovka, Novokalinovo, Vesele, Avdeevka, Pervomaiskoge, Vodyan, Novomikhailovka and Vremievka settlements of the Donetsk region.

Ukraine’s General Staff writes that the Russians fired artillery fire at Pavlovka near Uglendar, an area Russia recently announced it had captured. At the same time, the administration of the Donetsk People’s Republic reports that the Russian army is continuing its offensive against Uglendar.

Today, the administration of the Lugansk People’s Republic announced that Ukraine launched an offensive along the entire front line in the Lugansk region, from Popashna to Kharkiv region. This was announced by the representative of the “people’s militia” Andrei Marochko.

Russian Telegram channels write that the Armed Forces of Ukraine counterattacked Belogorovka from Serebryanka and recaptured some of the positions occupied by the Russians there. But so far, no significant breakdowns in the defense of Russian troops have been reported. But Russian channels believe that Ukrainian troops are gathering forces to step up offensive operations.

The situation in the Kherson region is also unchanged, however the situation is made more difficult by the extensive mining of the region by Russian troops. Today, the head of the National Police said that before the retreat, the Russians planted mines in the building of the Main Police Department in the area, so it had to be blown up.

Negotiations and perspectives

The statement following the results of the G20 summit in Bali contained several points for Ukraine.

  • The conflict in Ukraine “exacerbated the existing problems of the global economy.”
  • Most of the G20 countries condemn the military actions of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, but there are “other views on this situation”.
  • The use or threat of use of nuclear weapons is unacceptable.
  • The G20 countries have stressed the importance of the grain agreement and are in favor of its extension.

Russia, by the way, has already made it clear that it will extend the grain deal on the condition that it controls deliveries to countries in need, Russian Finance Minister Siluanov said. It is unlikely that anyone will reject this measure.

Otherwise, the statements of many G20 participants sounded in favor of an end to the war and a negotiated option. It is recalled that on Tuesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping and the French president called for a ceasefire in Ukraine and the resumption of peace talks.

According to Xi Jinping, China is in favor of a ceasefire, an end to hostilities and the resumption of peace talks. Macron, in turn, asked Xi Jinping to bring Russian President Vladimir Putin back to the negotiating table.
