Unmanned Cargo Aircraft from Bulgaria

Bulgaria-based unmanned cargo drone development and operations company Dronamics has announced its strategic manufacturing partnership with Cotesa, a European composite fiber component maker for the aerospace and automotive industries. This collaboration focuses on the construction of the Black Swan, the only unmanned “truck” that can carry a weight of up to 350 kg over a distance of 2,500 km.

The agreement ensures that production of Dronamics’ cargo drones will meet demand for commercial flights to begin in Europe in 2023. Recently, Dronamics became the first cargo drone company to receive a European air license.

The company has won several innovation awards and is the only strategic partner of IATA (International Air Transport Association) as a holder of the European Light Operator Certificate (LUC). This certificate is the highest currently issued for the use of unmanned aircraft in Europe and the first issued in the EU for medium-haul cargo transport. Black Swan will be manufactured at Cotesa’s facilities in Germany.

“We are delighted to have Cotesa as our manufacturing partner in Europe. The agreement to manufacture Black Swan at its German facility underpins our promise of same-day deliveries for everyone, everywhere and the launch of Dronamics’ commercial operations as the first drone delivery company on the (European) continent next year.” , Dronamics co-founder and CEO Svilen Rangelov said, according to the company’s website.

Cotesa is a proud partner of Dronamics and supports the next step in its development. Based on its long experience and ability to manufacture components for civil aviation, Cotesa is excited to work with such an innovative partner in air mobility. Cotesa has three factories and employs more than 400 people, developing and manufacturing custom solutions for aircraft and automotive components.
