Mai-Tai

It started in Oakland, California in 1944. A guest from Tahiti, after tasting it, shouted “maita-i-roa ae” which means “out of this world”, trying to describe its taste. The cocktail, shortly named, Mai-Tai. In the movie “Blue Huawei”, he gained his worldwide fame. It is a blend of rum, orange curacao (a kind of liqueur) and a kind of syrup of almonds, sugar and rose water (the flower water of orange blossoms).

Pina Colada

It is a blend of rum, coconut cream, pineapple juice and is considered the national drink of Puerto Rico. Bartender Ramon Monchito Marrero said he perfected it at the Caribe Hilton`s Beach Comber bar in San Juan.

Caipirinha

It was used in Sao Paulo, Brazil, as a medicine to alleviate the symptoms of the Spanish flu during the First World War. In its original version it contained cachaca (a drink made from cane), lime, honey and garlic. Lime was used due to its high content of vitamin C, while cachaca alcohol helped significantly in its absorption. In its current version, garlic and honey are not used, and have been replaced by brown sugar – to reduce the acidity of lemon – and ice.

Rum, lime and sugar are a trivial element that is widespread in the Caribbean. This cocktail got its name from a mine located in the Santiago region of Cuba. Drinks based on daiquiri are on the rise, while this particular cocktail is especially popular in its Frozen fruity version.

Margarita

This drink was associated with the city of Mexico, and is the top seller of tequila cocktails in the world. Consists of a mixture of tequila, cointreau and lime juice, a classic cocktail glass with salt on the rim is appropriate.

Old Fashioned

Old Fashioned is a bourbon whiskey cocktail served at the Pendennis Club, a gentlemen’s club in Kentucky. The recipe is said to have been created in 1880 by a bartender working for the Club in honor of the famous Bourbon distillery James E. Pepper, offering it at the World of Astoria Hotel bar in New York. His recipe consists of sugar, bitters, a little orange peel, and of course brandy or whiskey.
