Greece-France Alliance in the Defense and Armaments Sector

Today at 10:00 in the morning from the Palais des Champs-Elysees the leaders of France and Greece Emmanuel Macron and Kyriakos Mitsotakis respectively were announced the substantial deepening of the Greek-French strategic cooperation.

The Prime Minister of Greece acknowledged the essential support that France has previously offered to Greece with the military presence of its Forces in the Greek territory during the period of the Turkish provocations in the Eastern Mediterranean region.

In addition, the two leaders pointed out that the two countries, France and Greece, will be at the forefront of the effort for the strategic autonomy of Europe, which with the recent developments in the Pacific Ocean is imperative to move forward.

In this context, the supply of Greece for three plus one frigates FDI and three corvettes Gowind from France, which will be manufactured by the French company Naval Group, was also announced. The cost of this contract is 5 billion euros.

The two leaders will sign a mutual defense assistance between their two countries under which Greece and France will commit to providing assistance in cases where the sovereign rights or interests of one or the other side are threatened. For all this the green light has already been given by the USA.
