Swedish SAAB is further developing the capabilities of the Blekinge AIP A26 Submarine Class. The Swedish Navy has ordered two vessels with delivery time (2027-2028). SAAB is currently building the most advanced conventional Submarines in the world. Under the new capabilities, the A26 will have additional state-of-the-art weapon systems and “Stealth” capabilities, said a senior executive of the company.

Three designs for the AIP A26 submarine
• The design suitable for small-closed seas
It concerns an aerobic propulsion submarine less than 50 meters long with a maximum displacement of 1000 tons, a radius of action of 4000 nautical miles at a speed of 10 knots and a maximum of 20 knots, capable of patrolling for 20 consecutive days, with a crew of 17-25 people.
• The design suitable for Oceans
It has a length of 65 meters, displacement of 2000 tons, energy radius of 6500 nautical miles with a crew of 35 people.
• The design that is suitable for Oceans with a wide drastic range of action
The AIP 26 submarine in this category has a length of 80 meters, a displacement of 3000 tons, a range of 10000 nautical miles and a crew of 50 people. It is equipped with surface and surface weapons, ground, air, and cruise missiles.
