Russian Troops in the Golan-Syria Highlands

Russia has sent elite troops to the Golan Heights in Syria. The elite Russian Forces will provide an umbrella of protection to Syrian troops in the region while overseeing the border line separating Israel and Syria.

Essentially Russia with this move acquires an advanced base next to Israeli territory showing that it is now the regulator in the region, thus forcing Israel to think very carefully about the consequences before doing any military operation on Syrian territory.

But this choice of Russia also gives a false signal from Russia to both Israel and the West that it is now Russia that is moving forward and protecting both Iranian troops and Shiite militias that are variously supported by Iran but also by Turkey acting against Israel and through Syrian territory.

The question that arises and calls for an immediate response from Russia is whether Russia in its presence will at the same time ban each of these militant groups we mention above from doing any attack against Israel and from inside the territory of Syria.

If these attacks are completely stopped due to the presence of these Russian troops then they will have restored peace in the region and no matter how much they annoy Israel in this case, they could be welcome.

But if the attacks on Israel continue and Israel responds then what will these Russian troops do? Will they answer? If so and there are dead soldiers? And in retaliation or provocation, Russian soldiers will also be killed, and the area will catch fire that is likely to lead to a world war.

Of course, time will tell both sides whether they will move in a peaceful direction or towards war.
